For the 27th straight year, McDonough District Hospital’s emergency department has met the criteria to be designated as an Acute Stroke Ready hospital and are a part of the OSF Stroke network, explains MDH Vice President of Business Strategy Patrick Osterman:

“It measures some of the metrics, so it could range from how quick when somebody comes in here that they can get scanned, how fast that they do the testing to make sure that if it is a stroke, we get them diagnosed, get the treatments they need, and if they need to get transferred to OSF we make sure we get that done. But again, 27 years in a row, that is a lot of work that is involved, lot of teamwork from our emergency room staff, radiology, and our EMS.”

Additionally, Osterman shares Dr. Leilani Segura has joined the MDH staff and is now seeing patients in the MDH Pediatric Clinic.
