The Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys soccer team is making their 4th straight regional championship appearance on Wednesday night at Pattee Fields in Monmouth. The Titans will bring a record of (13-7-4) into their match against sub-sectional #1 seeded Beardstown. The Tigers are (15-4) and have beaten Monmouth-Roseville once this year, a 7-0 victory way back on September 18th in Beardstown. At that time in the season, the Titans were dealing with a plethora of injuries and were in the stretch of the season where they played six matches in a span of just eight days. Monmouth-Roseville is much healthier now and have been on a blistering run of (9-2-2) in their last 13 matches since the loss to the Tigers. The Titans losses during that time were a 3-2 loss to (21-2-1) Mendota and a 1-0 loss to class 2A Galesburg. Monmouth-Roseville goal keeper Isaac Garcia has pitched 8 shutouts in the last month of the season and even stepped up to score the only goal in a 1-0 win over A-town in the semifinals on Saturday. It was Garcia’s 4th penalty kick goal of the season. Titan head coach Zach Statham says the biggest change in the success in the second half of the season for his squad was merely gaining confidence in their own abilities.
