Several Monmouth College Sports Programs Have Chances to Play Beyond Regular Season

It’s been a very successful fall sports season for Monmouth College so far. Three teams are vying for a playoff spot. The Fighting Scots football team is tied with Lake Forest College atop the Midwest Conference standings with three games left for each school. The Scots will take on Ripon College at April Zorn Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 1:00. It will be senior day for Monmouth. Monmouth and Lake Forest will battle at Lake Forest College the following week on November 9th before the Scots end the regular season with a the Turkey Bowl at Knox College on November 16th. The Monmouth College volleyball team is in the midst of their best season since 2012. The Fighting Scots are (17-9) overall and (5-1) in the Midwest Conference. That conference mark only trails Grinnell College and Cornell College in the standings. Both of those schools are (4-0). The Monmouth College women’s soccer team is (3-3-1) in Midwest Conference play. That ties them with Beloit College for the 4th and final Midwest Conference playoff spot. The top 3 in the standings have already assured themselves of a spot in the conference tournament. The volleyball team is on the road on Wednesday, but not going very far. The Scots will take on their rivals, the Knox College Prairie Fire. The Scots women’s soccer team has one match remaining in the regular season and their at home, also on Wednesday, vs. Grinnell College.
