Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 13, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Brianna Woodard. Brianna was named to the United Red Storm All-Tournament team for her performance on the court. She controlled the net throughout the day, totaling well over 30 kills and over 10 blocks in the Titans’ five matches. Earlier in the week, Brianna totaled 20 kills and five blocks in two other matches.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is freshman boys cross country runner, Max McVey. After qualifying for the junior high state finals in 2023, Max has continued that success in his first high school season. He placed 26th in his first Lincoln Trail Conference meet at Midland Golf Club. Max ran a personal best time of 19:22.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman boys cross country runner, Peyton Russell. In Peyton’s first Lincoln Trail Conference championship race, he placed 45th. He ran the race in under 23 minutes. Peyton was even better earlier this season at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational, running the course in under 22 minutes.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls cross country runner, Grae Boone. Grae had a fantastic Moline Invitational race at Empire Park. In a field of 56 runners, she placed 9th in a 2-mile time of 13:34. Grae was 7 seconds away from a top-five finish.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys golfer, Alex Foutch. With his great performance at the sectional tournament, Alex qualified for the IHSA class 1A state final tournament in Bloomington. He shot an 18-hole score of 78 at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Club in Rockford to finish in a tie for 14th overall. Earlier this season, Alex placed 4th in the Lincoln Trail Conference championship tournament.
