Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2024:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Mia Reynolds. Mia was named to the Orion Charger Challenge All-Tournament team for her performance on the court. She hustled her way to 35 digs and slammed 22 kills in just four matches on the day. Earlier in the week, Mia totaled 14 digs and 10 kills in two other matches.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Addison Gillen. Addison was all over the court in four matches at the Orion Charger Challenge Tournament. She hustled and dove her way to 50 total digs in the Red Storm’s 5th place finish at the highly competitive invitational. For her efforts, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys golfer, Ethan Nichols. Ethan is wrapping up an impressive high school golf career in style. He shot an 86 at the Cambridge Class 1A Regional tournament at Valley View Golf Club. That score was good enough to qualify Ethan for the sectional tournament in Rockford.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Sophia Kisler. Sophia showed her versatility in a Streak’s win over Alleman. She hustled her way to a team-high of 6 digs, smashed 3 kills and served 2 aces. Sophia was also effective in the following match against Rock Island, serving 3 more aces, garnering four kills and 9 digs.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Jacob Hall. Jacob had a big hand in his team’s LincolnLand Conference win over United….literally. He caught six passes for an amazing 124 yards and a key touchdown. For the season, Jacob has caught 30 balls for nearly 500 yards and three scores.
