Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior girls cross country runner, Chloe Kelly. Chloe was the top placing Titan runner in the Class 1A regional meet at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island. Her time of 23:08 was her lowest time of the season and placed her 38th overall. Earlier this year, Chloe was 27th in the TRAC championship meet and was 6th at the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invite.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore football player, Chance Stewart. Chance had a great night at wide receiver in a LincolnLand Conference game against state-ranked Stark County. He caught 6 passes for 117 yards, taking 2 of those 6 catches to the end zone for touchdowns. Those two scores gave Chance four touchdowns on the season.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman volleyball player, Lilly Higgins. Lilly contributed to her team in a number of ways last week. She led the team in digs against Knoxville, 2nd on the team in kills against Bureau Valley and was 2nd in kills again and 1st in service aces in a win against BPC. This, all while doing double-duty each night, playing JV and Varsity matches.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls swimmer, Macie Nelson. Macie’s great day in the pool helped the Streaks to a Western Big Six Conference team championship. Individually, she placed 1st in the grueling 500 yard freestyle race and 2nd in the 100 yard butterfly race. Macie was also a part of two conference championship winning relay events, as well.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Drey Anderson. Drey ended his high school football career with a solid game at quarterback against ROWVA/Williamsfield. He threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Drey also ran for 64 yards and another touchdown on the night.
