The 2024 election has come and gone as Americans all over the country vote on who they want to represent. While reflecting on the results from this year’s election, Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau president Jake Armstrong, says this was a good election for farmers in Illinois.

“If you look around the state, a lot of our Friends of Agriculture recipients were reelected in the Illinois House and the Illinois Senate,” says Armstrong. “That’s an award the Illinois Farm Bureau gives out to legislators who vote, 70% in favor of the Farm Bureau stances. “

Looking to the federal election, Armstrong shares his optimism for President-Elect Donald Trump’s impact on agriculture.

“Specifically, in terms of federal and presidential, Trump has made it very clear that he will be an America First President. One of the things I’m optimistic about is he will help with this SAF opportunity or sustainable aviation fuel. Really driving that towards us, and using our corn ethanol, corn stocks, soybean stocks, vegetable oil stocks to produce that, versus letting other countries come in and produce that instead of our stocks. So I’m optimistic that this will be what we’re looking for in agriculture.”

With the election over, farmers are hopeful the Farm Bill will be a priority in 2025.
