Justin Cook State Farm is hosting their first annual ‘Cook’n Up Success’ competition for four interested college students in December. Local State Farm Account Representative in Galesburg and Aledo, David Milroy, shares the skills he hopes the students will gain during this hands-on, three-day competition:

“Building a connection, honestly building some confidence, seeing what it is like to work with people, have good conversations. I truly believe the two things you need to be a successful adult in any kind of industry is communication and problem solving. A lot of that comes from trial and error, so really, I would like to push some kids out of their comfort zone a little bit because I think that is where the growth happens most. I always thought that as an educator as well, but I want it to be a positive experience to where even if at the end of three days this isn’t something you want to do with your life, there is something you are going to pull away and say ‘man I’m glad I got that experience because now I know, fill in the blank, of what that is.’ Really, the biggest part of this is getting college kids some real-life work experience.”

‘Cook’n Up Success’ will take place December 15th through the 17th at the Justin Cook State Farm office in Aledo. For more information, call 309-582-2389, or email david.m.milroy.vahm3e@statefarm.com or justin.cook.er0x@statefarm.com.
