Juan Sierra, Sr., 73, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 3:36 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 20, 1951 in Laguna Larga de Cortez Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Feliciano Sierra and Leonor Nuñez. Juan was raised and educated in Mexico.
Juan married Maria Teresa Sierra on October 31, 1992 in Mexico and she survives.
Juan first worked in the vine fields of California when he came to America. He later moved to the Quad Cities and worked at Tyson Foods for a time. He most recently worked at Smithfield Foods in Monmouth for several years until his retirement. Juan enjoyed playing the trumpet, making witty remarks and always bringing a smile to those around him, walking his dog, and watching his favorite soccer teams on TV. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving Juan is his wife, Maria Teresa Sierra of Monmouth, IL; his children, Noemi Sierra of Davenport, IA, Reyna Sierra of Monmouth, IL, Juan Sierra, Jr. of Monmouth, IL, Maria Leonor Sierra of Monmouth, IL; his grandchildren, TJ Beverly and Tristan Beverly, both of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving is his brother, Pedro Sierra of Mexico; his sister, Esperanza Nuñez of Mexico, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Burial will take place in Mexico. Memorials can be made to the Juan Sierra Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
