Leatherneck Athletics Set to Welcome Back 70s Era Football Teams

Leatherneck Football returns to Hanson Field on Saturday, November 9, to take on Tennessee State at 1:00 p.m. The game also marks a reunion for Leatherneck Football alumni of all eras with a special focus on the 1974 team that defeated Hawaii. 

WIU traveled to Honolulu on November 2, 1974, to take on the Rainbow Warriors. The ‘Necks came away with a 31-0 victory over Hawaii under then-Head Coach Brodie Westen, a 1992 inductee to the WIU Athletics Hall of Fame.Members of the 1970s eras teams, including those present from the 1974 team, will be honored on-field during the game. All football alumni are encouraged to register to attend by following this link.
