It’s a big week of Fighting Scots sports this week, with postseason implications for Fighting Scots volleyball and football. With a win over Knox College last week, the volleyball squad clinched a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament. Four teams will play for the conference title on Friday and Saturday, November 15th and 16th. The regular season champion will host the tournament. With a week and a half to go in the conference schedule, the Scots can finish no worse than 3rd and can potentially win the regular season title. Monmouth is (6-1) in conference play with one match left. Grinnell and Cornell are (6-0) with each having two matches left. To make it even more intriguing, Grinnell and Cornell play each other on Wednesday. Therefore, one of those two schools will also have a loss like Monmouth currently has. Monmouth’s final match is against, guess who, Grinnell on Saturday. Cornell finishes up with Knox on Saturday. After it’s all said and done, it could actually come down to a tie breaking situation. Here’s Monmouth College Sport Information Director Nathan Baliva’s explanation.

As far as football, it’s much easier. Monmouth and Lake Forest are tied atop the Midwest Conference standings at (7-0) with two games left. The two schools play each other in Lake Forest, Illinois this Saturday. Here’s Baliva with the situation on the gridiron.

We’ll have the Monmouth College at Lake Forest College on the PCSN on Saturday. It’s an earlier start time than normal. The kickoff is schedule for noon, so our AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show will start at 11:35. It can also be heard online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 1330 WRAM app for your smartphone or tablet.
