Four members of the Monmouth Fire Department were honored with Life-Saving Awards, shares Fire Chief Casey Rexroat:
“We had an incident this past summer where our firefighters responded with the police and ambulance like we always do and this was a very stressful event and several patients involved that had pretty severe injuries. Our firefighters acted very quickly in what I consider to be a higher than average amount of pressure to help these people and get them the treatment they needed along with the ambulance and police to get them transported out of there quickly and get them to the hospital. I wanted to recognize our firefighters for doing such a great job at that incident and give them the Life-Saving Award. That went to Captain Ralph Peeler, Captain Tyler Osborne, Firefighter Travis Bitner, and Firefighter Devon Wade. They did an outstanding job at that incident, as they always do, but this was an incident that was outside of the normal realm of stress.”
Additionally, the newest member of the Monmouth Fire Department, Firefighter Connor Talbot, has graduated from the Basic Operations Firefighter Academy in Champaign.
