As part of the United School District school reorganization, United Junior High and High School are all under one roof. Hannah Thompson, president of the United FFA Chapter says this reorganization has allowed middle school students to get involved in FFA early.

“They will come to our meetings, and they’re allowed to go to contest now, and kind of just work their way into FFA, starting younger,” says Thompson.

By getting involved at the middle school level, students can see the different opportunities available to them through the FFA organization, such as attending the National Convention each October. Where, Meredith Yung, United FFA vice president, shares they witnessed two members receive their American Degrees.

“That was Payton Crain and Addison Olmsted,” says Yung. “They are very great students, and we were really glad that they progressed and got that. It’s such a great accomplishment.”

Thompson adds some highlights from the convention including hearing from keynote speaker Dr. Temple Grandin, attending the sessions, and learning more about FFA.
