New Knox County Coroner Elected

There will be a new coroner for Knox County. Current coroner Mark Thomas did not seek re-election. Republican Jacque Dare defeated Democrat Douglas Sampson in the General Election Tuesday. She received 67 percent of the vote. Dare, from Galesburg, has worked the last 18 years as a patrol officer for the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

Knox County Clerk Mary Ostrander and State’s Attorney Ashley Worby were both un-opposed.

There were two races for seats on the Knox County Board. In District 4, Joshua Kramer defeated Oscar Riley Jr 3511 to 1565.

And in District 5, both Republicans Ricardo Sandoval and Patty Boone were elected to the board. Sandoval received 46.6 percent of the vote, Boone garnered 35 percent of the vote while Democrat Paul Steenis picked up 18 percent of the votes.
