The City of Monmouth has heard questions from the community regarding the rocks placed in the northeast quadrant island this past weekend. The City of Monmouth would like to share that the current placement of rocks is a temporary measure for the winter months. The plan for the island will bring in more natural greenery, with mostly native grass and a small, semi-circular landscaped area around the streetlight, which will be installed on the parking lot side of the island. This area will feature taller, native grasses on a mulch bed surrounding the streetlight, creating a welcoming, natural look.
In the spring, once the streetlight is in place, the rocks will be removed, and they will proceed with planting the grass and native greenery to bring our original vision to life.
