William D. “Bill” Roberts, age 89, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.  He was born November 14, 1934 in Higby, Missouri, the son of Harold and Emma South Roberts.  On December 6, 1959, he married Jeanette L. Rogers in Higby, Missouri.

Mr. Roberts was a veteran of the United States Army. He served eleven years of active duty, and seventeen years in the Army Reserve.  He was employed at JI Case Company in Burlington for many years.   He was a member of the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church and the Stronghurst American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter: Sherri (Tom) Leath of Roseville, IL, one son: Rex Roberts of Bloomington, IL, eight grandchildren: Jennifer Roberts, Christy Philips, Amanda Peck, Katie Roberts, Shea Roberts, Dustin Leath, Allison Kallenbach, and Christin McCoy, twelve great grandchildren: Luke, Addison and Eva Philips, Emmett and Noah Peck, Wylloh Roberts, Ryan Leath, Lucas, Payton and Braden German, Kathleen and Kynlee Kallenbach, and one sister: Betty Watson of Kansas City, KS.   He was preceded in death by two sisters: Wanda and Wilma, and three brothers: Walter, David and Harold Jr.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Pastor Jay Clover officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made, in his memory, to the Stronghurst American Legion.  Please visit Bill’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to leave a condolence.
