Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 17, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is boys soccer players, seniors Bruntsh Bolese and Biak Ceu and junior Cee Sarcomo. These 3 players were named to the All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference’s First Team. Cee and Bruntsh went 1-2 in total goals scored for the season. Biak was a solid 2-way player for the Titans, helping out both the defensive and offensive end of the field.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Mason Giddings. Despite being slowed by injury for much of the season, Mason played well enough on the field to be chosen to the LincolnLand Conference’s Honorable Mention team as a linebacker. Better yet, he also did well enough in the classroom to make the conference’s All-Academic Team, as well.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys bowler, Ethan Nichols. Ethan is already building off the momentum he built in his successful golf season in the fall. He was the top bowler in his team’s first match of the winter sports season. Ethan rolled a team-high 3-game score of 586, with a single-game high of 215 in a win over Abingdon-Avon.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Gilbert Lemus. Gilbert was rewarded for his great play on the football field this past fall. He was named to the All-Western Big Six Conference’s 2nd team as an offensive lineman. Gilbert helped open holes for the league’s rushing leader.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman boys bowler, Skyler Baldwin. Skyler has gotten his high school bowling career off to a great start. He placed 22nd out of 69 bowlers at his team’s first tournament of the season. Skyler rolled a 6-game series of 987, just missing a 1000 pin day.
