The Burlington Police Department is providing an update regarding an ongoing death investigation.
On December 2, 2024, Shermando Harper, age 18, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Chicago, Illinois. Harper was apprehended on Des Moines County, Iowa, warrants for 1st Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. harper is being held at the Des Moines County Jail.
This arrest is a significant development in the case, and we extend our gratitude to the U.S. Marshals Service and all agencies involved for their assistance.
