On Friday, December 6, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of a break-in at a residence in the 800 block of E Fremont Street. Upon arrival, it was found that two suspects had entered the residence as the occupants were sleeping. The suspects entered through an unsecured bedroom window.

The suspects, who were armed with handguns, tied up the residents. Stolen from the residence were several firearms, an undisclosed amount of cash, the family dog, and a vehicle. Officers from the patrol unit and the special operations unit processed the scene of the incident and started an investigation.  The stolen vehicle was later recovered on West Carl Sandburg Drive in Galesburg, unoccupied.

Preliminary information suggests that the suspects in this case were targeting this specific residence. There is no information to suggest an ongoing threat to the public at this time. The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Galesburg Police Department at (309) 343-9151.
