Recap by Kadin Rogers

The Monmouth-Roseville boys basketball team returned to the floor on Tuesday night for yet another contest in a string of action for the busy Titans. This time Monmouth-Roseville travelled to Farmington for a battle of former Olympia conference rivals. First quarter action would set the tone for what this matchup would be about, as defenses overall won the battle throughout. In particular, the Farmers would end the first with just two points coming from Landon Crawford, while Senior Andy Myers six points led all scorers in the quarter as the Titans held a 10-2 lead after one. Monmouth-Roseville would take a slightly more balanced scoring approach in the second quarter as Myers, Payton Thompson, Andrew Way, Cee Sarcomo, and Nick Huston all poured in points before the half to put the Titans up 22-10 after one half of play.

Points would continue to come at a premium in the third quarter. The Titans would have their statistical worst quarter of the game, while Farmington had their best of the game pouring in 11 points in the period, but Monmouth-Roseville would still take a ten point lead into the final 8 minutes of play after a Thompson three kept them up 31-21. The fourth quarter would have on mission for the Titans, preserve their lead, and that is what they would end up doing as the defense continued to hold strong while Ethan Clark’s three ball and free throws from Huston and Thompson salted away a 46-30 win for Monmouth-Roseville.

In the final stat book for the Titans, Andy Myers would lead the points column for the second straight night with 14, while Payton Thompson and Nick Huston both came through with 10 a piece. The win for the Titans marks their 5th in a row, improving their overall record to 7-4. Monmouth-Roseville now is halfway done with a bust stretch of basketball, as they will host Orion on Friday night this week before taking on United in a battle for Warren County at the Great Western Shootout in Abingdon on Saturday.
