The (5-2) Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls’ basketball team will get back on the floor tomorrow night following a hard-fought battle against Kewanee that ended in a loss 46-41 on Monday night. Freshman Layla Katile has increased her playing time over the last couple of games, with the rest of the team stepping in as well, as Titans leading scorer Brianna Woodard is recovering from a concussion. Head Coach Scott Weber says the team will spend a little extra time on defense in practice to prepare for a rivalry game at Orion Thursday night:

“Our strength early in the year was defense and I think it has slipped a little bit and so we are going to fix a few things, not only on the ball, but off ball defense today. We worked on it some yesterday, but we have to do better at reacting to stuff and we need to do better at anticipating. We will get out and guard people, but we create a lot of our offense from our defense and right now that is not happening. So, we will focus on some defense, fix some things on some plays that we run and make sure we are doing them better, setting better screens, and rolling harder.”

Following tomorrow night’s game at Orion, the Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls’ basketball will take on Knoxville in the A-Town Shootout at noon on Saturday, which will be broadcast on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM, before hosting the Abingdon-Avon Lady Tornadoes Monday night in the Shoebox.
