The Monmouth-Roseville Titans basketball team returned to action right out of the gate this week, playing at home for a rare Monday night game against the Knoxville Blue Bullets. Off of back to back losses for the Titans, Monmouth-Roseville came out looking for a much needed win and they got one in the form of a 74-30 rout.

Wayne Beardsley would put Knoxville in the lead first on a three ball, however this would be the start of an unanswered 18 point run for the Titans. Ethan Clark responded with a 3 for the first bucket for M-R, then put in another jumper to break the tie. Nick Huston’s layup and a Payton Thompson three put the Titans in double figures, before Thompson and Lars Bergren traded scores to give the Titans an early 18-3 lead. A strong run from Andy Myers, highlighted by several transition layups would give the Titans a 20 point lead before Cee Sarcomo drilled a buzzer beating three to close the quarter with a 30-7 lead after one.

A Payton Thompson layup opened the second quarter scoring, before Lars Bergren put in another three, and Andy Myers put in another layup to increase the Titans lead to 41-9. Junior Landyn Angelo put himself into the scoring column on a tough putback late in the second quarter as the Titans found themselves with a commanding 47-10 lead after one half. Much of the second half would see the Titans show off their depth by giving action to some second and third string players as the clock ticked away, Elliott Rogers and Ivan Godina got themselves into the scorebook with 3rd quarter scores while Andy Myers and Lars Bergren continued adding to their nights, sending the game to a running clock in the fourth quarter.

The final quarter of play would be a big one for junior Eli Burton, as he scored 9 points in just the 4th alone, helping to put the finishing touched on a dominant 74-30 win for the Titans. In the stat book for Monmouth-Roseville, Andy Myers led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points, Lars Bergren poured in 12 points, Payton Thompson crossed double digits with 10 points, while Eli Burton added in 9. With the win, the Titans improve their overall record to 3-4, and they will look to keep their momentum going tomorrow night with another home game against the Canton Little Giants.
