Prior to the regularly scheduled United Board of Education meeting, a Truth and Taxation Hearing was held to discuss the district’s Tax Levy, explains Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“We did hold a Truth and Taxation Hearing, not because we were raising rates. Our Board actually abated some of the taxes through a promise that they have done over previous year back to the community. Since our local EAV and our local property values are going up, it caused us to go over that threshold and required the Truth and Taxation Hearing. We had a few people come from the community and we were able to get through it. I will be very busy driving around the four counties that help service our district, so I will be going around to each of the County Clerks and paying them a visit.”
