Marvin Mitchell Brock, 66, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Abingdon, passed away on January 22, 2025, at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center, Galesburg. He had been in failing health for several years.

Marvin was born January 9, 1959, in Galesburg to Joe and Betsy (Rhea) West Brock. He married Pamela Johnson. They had two daughters, Holly and Jessica. They later divorced.

Marvin was raised in Abingdon. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1977. He worked at Lakis Ford in Galesburg for 17 years. He then worked numerous side jobs until his health began failing. Marvin lived for the day, loved yard sales and haggling, and found joy in his beloved daughters, grandchildren, and his dogs.

Marvin is survived by his daughters, Holly (Danny) McDorman of Galesburg, and Jessica (Nick) Lindsey of Oneida; three brothers, Lee Brock and Harold Rhea of Galesburg, and Joseph West of Indiana; two sisters, Jenny Byrd of Georgia and Joan Mabry of Galesburg; two grandsons and eight granddaughters; two aunts, Roberta Brock West of Abingdon and Sharon Brock of Missouri; six nephews, five nieces and several great nephews and nieces; along with several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Pastor Jordan Knight will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
