Strom Center staff reviewed 1,200 plans in Warren and Henderson Counties for Medicare enrollment and saved seniors over $1.2 million, reports Executive Director Carol McCrery:

“Some people their plans were lower, but some changed to a different plan, and we came up with that two years ago we saved persons $920,000 over the two-county area, but this year it was $1,285,000. By changing plans, people saved a certain amount of money. We thought going into this that maybe it wouldn’t be much of a savings because people were limited that they wouldn’t have to pay over $2,000 out of pocket for their medications; however, that was very misleading to many, many people. That was only if those medications were on their formulary, so the reviews were so important because formularies change every year.”

Additionally, McCrery reminds seniors of the Benefit Access Program available through Strom Center, which allows qualified persons the ability to obtain their license plate renewals at a reduced rate. For more information, contact the staff at Strom Center at 309-734-5677.
