In a technology driven society, Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine Clinic Manager Doug Price offers tips to prevent those neck injuries:

“The neck has become one of the more prevalent things because what are we doing, we are sitting at a computer all day long. Gets us into a rounded mid-back pasture and if we are rounded in the mid-back, then we get this forward head posture. We are looking down at our cell phones all day long or our tablets; possibly one of the worst things is lying in bed with your head just barely propped up either watching television, looking at your tablet, looking at your phone, and basically over time, it just stretches those muscles out. We need to sit up more, more upright, we need to cut down on how much we are looking down or if you are still sitting on the couch, rather than looking down, you buy slant boards, just like a lap tray, where you can place it there to keep you in a lot better posture.”

If you experience pain that has lingered more than two weeks, Price recommends having that assessed.
