Born and raised in Warren County, Steve Thompson has announced his candidacy for Warren County Sheriff in 2026. With strong connections to the citizens of Warren County, Steve informs one of his main priorities focuses on school safety:

“Schools, that is one of my big things. My wife, she is actually involved with the United school and that is also where my children go. I want to get an SRO into the school if that is possible, a School Resource Officer. Talk with the schools and see what we can work out. I think an SRO is deeply needed. I want the kids to feel safe. I would also like to increase patrols at the times when the kids are going to school and when they are leaving the schools. I think that is also important. I am not sure if the County has key cards or not for the schools, but if they don’t, I’d like to see if we can get those, so that when we do respond, we can get in as quickly as possible and just be able to do walk throughs, make our presence known. The children feel safer just seeing officers walk through.”

Steve currently works 3rd shift with the Monmouth Police Department as a Patrol Officer.
