Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 26, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Mia Reynolds. Mia filled up the stat sheet in a non-conference victory over Farmington. She scored 8 points, pulled down 4 rebounds and handed a team-leading 6 assists. Mia was also a menace on the defensive end with two steals and a blocked shot.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Cameron Anderson. Cameron busted out for 19 points in a Lincoln Trail Conference win over Annawan. She nearly posted a double-double, pulling down 8 rebounds in the game, as well. In three wins last week, Cameron averaged 10 points and made a total of seven, 3-pointers.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys bowler, Ethan Nichols. Ethan ended his high school bowling career on a great note. He qualified for the sectional tournament after knocking down 1013 pins at the Minooka regional tournament. Ethan was even better at the sectional, placing 40th after rolling a 6-game score of 1183.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys wrestler, Anthony Makwala. Anthony’s amazing season continued with another great finish at the Orion Bob Mitton Invitational. He plowed through the 165 pound weight class without a loss on the way to the tournament title. It’s Anthony’s fourth finish of 3rd place or better this season.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Drey Anderson. Drey had a fantastic week, leading the team in scoring and assists in two games. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 assists, while also pulling down 6.5 rebounds. Drey posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in a win over ROWVA/Williamsfield.
