Stemming from the 2022 Community Survey for the City of Galesburg, 77 percent of citizens selected attracting industry and jobs as a top priority. In the economic growth report card for 2024, 23 new developments or expansions were constructed, creating over 300 jobs, and investing $113 million into the Galesburg community, reports Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:
“There has been $113 million in new investments in the community in 2024. that includes stuff that was announced by OSF HealthCare, Graham Health Systems, Western Smokehouse Partners, Thrushwood Farms, and then you can even add to that the announcement last month with the DeLong project that is going to go into the Galesburg Business Park. You are talking about community investment that is over $150 million in new commitments. I know that is a big number. I want to put that into context, that is a majorly big number for a community our size and gives us some really cool momentum going into 2025.”
Breaking down the data into local, small businesses in the City of Galesburg, $85,000 was granted to local entrepreneurs as seven small business start-ups or expansions took place in 2024.
