McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout has been elected to serve as President of the Illinois Sheriff’s Association for this next year and shares legislation and training are his main goals:
“One of the things that the Illinois Sheriff’s Association is fantastic with is legislation. We track a lot of legislation that affects cops in general, not just sheriffs, but police officers, state police, probation, parole; we track a lot of legislation. We have a fantastic Executive Director that does a lot of work for, I would say everyone in Illinois. There is a lot of legislation that the Illinois Sheriff’s Association. The Illinois Sheriff’s Association does a fantastic job of paying for all of the sheriffs training. Just in Warren County and Henderson, Knox, Fulton, and McDonough, the Illinois Sheriff’s Association is vital in our ability to meet those mandates and to get even better training for all sheriffs across the state.”
Sheriff Petitgout also reminds high school students and those currently in college that the Illinois Sheriff’s Association is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 academic year through March 14th.
