Monmouth College’s Anderson, Hursey Win MWC Awards for Track & Field

MONMOUTH, ILL. (02/18/2025) Two Monmouth College track and field team won two more Midwest Conference Performer of the week awards on Tuesday. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) won on the men’s side in field events and Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won on the women’s side.

Anderson won the Roger Haynes Invitational weight throw with a new PR of 19.88m, the third-best throw in school history and the best throw so far this season in the nation for Division III. He has the best throw in the MWC by almost a full meter over teammate Caleb Toberman who also set a new PR on Saturday at 19.01m. Anderson finished fourth in the shot put at 13.83m.

Hursey won the pole vault at Saturday’s Roger Haynes Invitational with a new PR of 3.52m, the fourth-best indoor vault in Monmouth history. The vault ranks her 1st in the MWC by six inches and 39th in Division III.

Anderson has won the award twice in the last three weeks. With Toberman’s two wins this year, the men’s team has four Field Performer of the Week awards. Hursey has also won the award two of the last three weeks and the Scots women have five Field wins this season.

Monmouth competes at the IC Hilltop Classic on Friday before hosting the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 28 and March
