The Macomb Police Department has arrested a suspect involved in a series of fraudulent online transactions. The suspect utilized social media platforms to locate individuals selling electronics, arrange in-person transactions, and then fail to provide payment after receiving the item(s).

Following a few reports of online “rip offs” last week, officers from Macomb PD began an investigation. A thorough investigation led officers to identify Sean D. Coleman (23, Macomb) as the individual responsible for these “rip offs”. On 02-17-2025, Macomb Police Officers located and arrested Coleman for his actions. Coleman was charged with Theft Over $500 and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver.

The Macomb Police Department reminds the online community to practice safe buying and selling practices. Safe practices include telling someone where and when you’re doing the transaction, keeping a phone with you, or bringing a friend. MPD encourages buyers and sellers to utilize the internet transaction parking spots located in the southwest corner of the Police Department parking lot.

Subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
