The Warren County dispatchers have received their initial ‘Emergency Medical Dispatching’ certification, which will greatly benefit rural 911 callers, explains Communications Director Ken Helms:
“That is a new software program that we are starting up. Basically, in simple terms, it is so we can give pre-arrival instructions to the caller. If somebody calls in and there was somebody that was not breathing, if the caller chooses, we would be able to give them CPR instructions, stop the bleed kind of things, and then we have a stroke diagnostic on it too. This is going to be quite a large improvement for the rural callers where response times might be in the ten-to-fifteen-minute range.”
Helms also reports the Police and Fire Commissioners Board recently conducted testing to establish a promotional list for the Monmouth Police Department and their ranks to assist with future hires and promotions within the department.
