Already named the Arrowhead Conference’s co-Most Valuable Player, Sandburg men’s basketball sophomore Logan Sluder can add All-Region 4 selection to his list of accolades.

Sluder was voted to the All-Region 4 Division II second team by coaches after leading the Chargers in scoring, field goal shooting and 3-point shooting in addition to being one of the top players nationally at the free-throw line.

A 5-foot-11 guard from Normal West High School, Sluder scored a team-best 16.2 points per game while also leading Sandburg with a 52 percent mark from the field and 36 percent accuracy from 3-point range. His scoring average ranked 15th across all divisions in Region 4.

Sluder shot 89 percent (138 of 156) from the foul line, which led Region 4 Division II and was third among players in NJCAA Division II. His 138 made free throws ranked 12th nationally.

Sluder also averaged 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists while starting all 31 games this season for Sandburg. His 56 steals on the year tied for the team lead.

Last week, Sluder became the first Sandburg men’s basketball player this century to win Arrowhead Conference MVP honors. He had seven games of at least 20 points this season, including a career-best 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting in Sandburg’s contest Feb. 1 at Madison.
