Close to You: The Music of The Carpenters sponsored by Action Tax takes The Historic Orpheum Stage on Saturday March 29th at 7:30p. This spectacular tribute to The Carpenters, starring Lisa Rock, brings you the songs you love from the band, as well as exploring the lives and labor that went into making this hit music.

Considered one of the best vocalists of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with the surprisingly deep material of her unabashedly catchy pop music. Singer and playwright Lisa Rock has compiled a moving tribute to the music and life of Carpenter and brings it to the stage with her 6-piece band. Dedicated to re-creating the true sound of The Carpenters, Rock and her band showcase some of the most memorable songs of the 70s including ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’, and of course ‘Close to You’.

“It’s an interactive experience,” Lisa Rock told The Chicago Tribune, “It is a night that everyone that sees it says was like a journey with you about the Carpenters that they feel a part of too. It’s really a night of enjoying the music of The Carpenters along with stories about The Carpenters as well.”

Tickets are available now for $25 – $30 per person plus fees at GalesburgOrpheum.org, or by calling (309)342-2299. Group ticket rates are available for groups 20 or more.
