To continue meeting the demand of patient care, an emergency department expansion is underway on the OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, reports Managing Medical Director Dr. Josh Carpenter:

“It is going to be a multi-phase construction project that is designed to enhance the emergency department that will give us a new waiting room, it will redesign the registration office with space for clinical mission partners; there will be two new triage rooms to hopefully make patient assessment more efficient. The expansion also includes six new emergency department exam rooms and a new nurse station. We are expecting it to take between twelve and fifteen months to complete.”

Dr. Carpenter also reports the OSF Cardiovascular Institute in Galesburg has moved into their new facility on the St. Mary Medical Center campus, which was the former OSF Family Practice.
