Galesburg Police Chief Russell Idle Placed On Administrative Leave

Galesburg Police Chief Russell Idle is on paid administrative leave.  City officials say Idle was placed on leave on Thursday.  The decision was made pending the review of a personnel matter.  Idle has been a member of the Galesburg Police Department for 30 years and chief since 2019.  Deputy Police Chief Kevin Legate will serve as acting police chief.
