This Saturday, March 29th, Western Illinois Animal Rescue will host their annual Furry Friends Fundraiser at the Monmouth American Legion. Jan Helms informs this is their largest fundraising event of the year, with proceeds directly benefiting the needs of the animals at WIAR:
“All proceeds go to help the stray, neglected, and abused animals that we provide shelter, medical care, and love to while they wait for their furever homes. We can always use cleaning supplies, paper towels, trash bags, bleach, laundry detergent because we have blankets that we wash routinely; we can always use cat food, dog food, and our Amazon wish list, if you just go to that, it will give you the things that we are always looking for. We are working on our dog room right now, as far as upgrading it. We have been in there since 2018 and the building is beginning to show a bit of wear even though we take good care of it, but that is one of our projects that we are happy about getting started.”
Doors will open at 4 pm for the Furry Friends Fundraiser, featuring entertainment by Andy Avery, a bake sale, live and silent auctions, WIAR merchandise, raffles, and more. Admission is $5.
