Despited dropping the first set, the United Red Storm 8th grade volleyball squad came back to defeat Mercer County 22-25, 25-21, 25-18 to win a class 3A regional championship at Knoxville Junior High on Wednesday night. The Red Storm beat Orion in the semifinals two sets to one and knocked off Rockridge in straight sets on Saturday in the quarterfinals. United is now (21-4) overall and will move on to the Washington sectional championship on Monday, March 17th against (19-4) Eureka. The game will be played at Washington Middle School at 6:30. The winner will go on to the class 3A state finals in Pana, Illinois starting on March 21st.
