A list of projects will be a topic of discussion at the West Central Board of Education meeting. With no facilities tax in place in Henderson County, Superintendent Stacey Day explains the funding steams for the West Central School District and how these projects get accomplished:
“We have a couple different funding streams through our Operations and Maintenance Levy, just through that normal fund in our budget can pay for some of it. Our 10-year Life Safety, work can be done through a Health Life Safety bond. We have had bonds in the past, I mean every district really has them, but our current bond we will finish off paying it in December of this year and so we are going to spend the time this summer and into the fall looking back at issuing a new bond, dealing with as minimal tax impact as we can make it and try to balance out all the other things we have to do as well. There are a lot of projects and a lot of work that needs to be done and just like everybody for everything, unfortunately costs are not going down at all either. We do get a little bit of money from Warren County because we have some property kids that live in that county that come to us.”
The West Central Board of Education will meet at 6 pm, this Wednesday, March 19th in the Elementary Cafeteria.
