Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 2, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Cee Sarcomo. Cee posted 10 points in the Titan’s final game of the season. He hit a pair of 3-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line. Cee led the Titans for the season in assists on offense and steals per game on defense.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Elliott Copeland. Elliott brought his A-game in the Red Storm’s semifinal run in the regional tournament. He scored 13 points, including three, 3-pointers in the quarterfinals. Elliott just missed double figures with 9 points in a heart-breaking loss in the semifinals.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Peyton Woodbury. Peyton saved one of his best offensive games of the season for his final game in a Heat uniform. He scored in double digits in a loss to Princeville in the regional quarterfinals. Peyton was money from the free throw line, making five of his six attempts in the game.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys swimmer, Ryan Tapper. Ryan ended his Streak’s career in style. He was a 4-time champ at the Western Big Six Conference championships. Ryan was also a 4-time champ at the sectional meet, which led to participating in 1 solo and 2 relay events at the IHSA state finals.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Taylor Ford. Taylor had a great all-around sectional tournament. Along with her usual stellar defense, she contributed on the offensive end as well. In two wins, Taylor averaged six points and handed out a total of 7 assists.
