The uber-young Monmouth-Roseville Titan baseball team got their season underway on Friday and Saturday in Chilicothe. The Titans played on the artificial turf fields at IVC High School, taking on class 3A LaSalle-Peru in the season opener on Friday night and the host IVC Grey Ghosts on Saturday afternoon. The Titans lost both games by the mercy-rule but took that experience into Monday night’s game in Abingdon against A-Town. Monmouth-Roseville came from four runs down after 3 innings to get a gutsy 5-4 bounce-back win. First year Titan head coach Mike Huston said on the Wednesday WRAM Morning Show that his young club is going to have to learn on the fly and that will play dividends down the road and into the future.

Next up for the Titan baseball squad is the home opener on Thursday night against West Central High School at Sunny Lane Field in Monmouth. It will be a battle of head coaches that were both coaches at ICS Junior High in the past, in Titan head coach Mike Huston and West Central head coach Ross Parcel.
