Debra L. Wells, 70, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Oak Lane Nursing Home in Stronghurst, IL.

Deb was born on February 10, 1955, in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Thomas J. and Betty L. (Kemper) Day. She was raised and educated in Galesburg and Abingdon, graduating from Abingdon High School in 1973.

On October 25, 1990, she married Stephen C. Wells in Monmouth, and he passed away on April 9, 2023.

Deb worked at Maytag, Shopko, and Huffman’s in Aledo, IL. She enjoyed camping, hiking, horseback riding, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Den Mother, and Youth Group Leader at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.

Surviving Deb are her children, Nathan (Angalia Jones) Huss, Jr. of Illinois, Aron Huss of North Carolina, and Sarah (Kris) Brant of South Carolina; stepdaughter, Shawna Kent of Iowa; grandchildren, Nathan Huss III, Raven Huss, Holden Brant; and her brother, Thomas M. (Sally) Day of Illinois.

Deb is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big River State Park and sent to the funeral home.
