Mr. Kenneth M. “KP” Pitman, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 6:02 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2925, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

He was born on January 3, 1954, in Galesburg to Phillip and Arlene (Nelson) Pitman.  He married Marritta “Rita” Chase in 1977 in Galesburg. 

Surviving are two sons, Phillip (and Mindy) Pitman of Maquon, Illinois and Bradley Pitman of Galesburg, a brother, Curtis (and Sherry) Pitman of Rio, Illinois, two sisters, Linda (and Mark) Bliechner of Minnesota and Sharon Sweborg of Galesburg, two grandchildren, Christina (and Coty Connour) Pitman and Chase Pitman, and two great grandchildren, Knox Connour and Wrenlee Connour.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

KP graduated from Galesburg High School in 1972.  He served in the United States Air Force for four years and was stationed in New York.  He worked for his brother, Curtis Pitman, as a machinist at Midstate Manufacturing Company for over 40 years.  He retired in 2012.  When he was younger, he attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.  He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #749 in Knoxville, Illinois.  KP was a Chicago Bears fan.  He enjoyed going to dirt track races and drag races.  In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and going to the casino.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. 

As KP requested, cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is proudly assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com
