Monmouth Police Department Responds to Incident Involving Lost Firearm

The Monmouth Police Department is addressing an incident that occurred the morning of April 26, 2025. A member of the public accidentally lost a firearm between their residence in Monmouth and Colona IL, prompting an immediate response from local authorities.

Due to the large size of the area, the Monmouth Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation in Monmouth and has notified jurisdictions between Monmouth and Colona. MPD has increased patrols to ensure public safety. Authorities are working diligently to locate the firearm and are seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Monmouth Police Department at 309-734-8383 or submit tips anonymously through Warren County Crimestoppers at 309-734-9363.
