As construction continues on the Public Square in Downtown Monmouth, Assistant Fire Chief Craig Cozadd discusses the flow of traffic for motorists:

“The square is ever evolving, every day. If one part is blocked off in the morning, it may not be in the afternoon. So, when people are going around the square, keep in mind that it is not like it once was, there are some lanes that are coming in that are single lanes now and there are dual lanes coming off the other side. They are moving, I think, very quickly on this project, but the square still operates the same. It is still the same situation as it was before, as far as driving around it, but just be aware there is non-stop construction going on. Everyone just use caution driving around there.”

Additionally, spring planting season is ramping up and motorists will be sharing the roadways with large machinery and equipment. Assistant Chief Cozadd reminds everyone to slow down, give the operators space, pass when it is legal and safe to do so, and be mindful of the equipment turning into fields and at intersections.
