The United School District has received a School Maintenance Grant to upgrade their ADA parking at the high school and United West Elementary, reports Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“We applied for a School Maintenance Grant, and we were granted that with the state. We went out and got bids and our bids came in under the projected cost. Where that is happening is out in front of The Fieldhouse. They are going to bump out a space there because right now it is parallel parking for handicap, which the unloading zone is into traffic, so we are going to make those more of an angled parking to allow the people to get out of their cars safely. Also, at West Elementary, the handicap parking is way out in the parking lot and so we are actually going to put it right across from the main doors, so it is easy and accessible to get into the West Elementary. Our other schools have handicap parking right outside their doors. Just something that we are working on, something that came through, and will be happening.”

Superintendent Hawkins informs the ADA parking upgrades within the United School District will take place over the summer.
