Tonight, and tomorrow, the Buchanan Community Chorus will hold their spring performances in Monmouth at the Heritage Bible Church and First United Methodist Church. Assistant Chorus Director Joy Boostrom shares 28 performers will take the stage:

“The theme of the concert is ‘Let the Light Shine,’ so a lot of our music has to do with light. We have about 28 singers ranging from people from Monmouth, Galesburg, and Alexis. Our Director is Carolyn Kellert and she had selected two pieces arranged by Mark Hayes, who is a well-known choir composer and arranger. So, we are doing a spiritual of his called ‘The Spirit Sings’ and then an arrangement called ‘Grace,’ which is the words of ‘Amazing Grace,’ but the accompaniment is from a song called ‘The Water is Wide,’ just a beautiful song. We also have some instrumental ensembles from a trumpet duet, piano duet, piano and organ duet; obviously vocal ensembles, and we have a choir chime ensemble.”

Tonight’s performance at the Heritage Bible Church will begin at 7 pm with tomorrow’s at the First United Methodist Church beginning at 3 pm, both for a freewill donation.
