Through grants and local private donations, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office was able to add a second K-9 Deputy, BOLO, to their force, states Sheriff Matt Link:

“Our Deputy Chris Spears, he is retired from the military, and he was a K-9 handler in the military and trained dogs, he had some contacts and was able to get three different grants, which provided us some very good money to make that addition. Obviously, we still have our first canine, Montana, and with generous donations; we can’t think our community enough for the private donations and the donations from the businesses and townships that we received to be able to keep this K-9 program going and flourishing now with two. We were able to outfit a car, pay for the dog itself, pay for all the training, and they have gotten through their training. So, that canine is on the road with our other officers, assisting them and other agencies. He is a full-service canine. Everything from tracking to article searches to drug detection and handler protection.”
