A harmful and possibly deadly plant is spreading around the U.S. Poison hemlock grows year around but typically flourishes between March and May. Experts say the plant is toxic to humans and animals, saying its touch and particles can be harmful. The Department of Agriculture says poison hemlock has white flowers that grow in small clusters and tend to grow along fence lines, irrigation ditches and other moist places. All parts of poison hemlock are poisonous including the leaves, stem, fruit and root The USDA says ingesting the plant can lead to death.
